High school students and parents are often bombarded by well-meaning friends and relatives who think they know it all when it comes to college admissions, the college search process, college applications, essay writing, and more. But truly great advice comes from experts. Here’s a list of podcasts where you can find such advice:

Admissions Beat – hosted by Lee Coffin, Dean of Admission, Dartmouth College. The podcast provides high school students, parents, counselors and mentors with “news you can use” from the beginning of the college search to applications, decision-making, and arrival on campus.

College Matters – launched this fall, from The Chronicle of Higher Education, this podcast explores the world through the prism of the nation’s colleges and universities. Topics have included political unrest on college campuses, the future of AI and the cost of college today.

Future U – Jeff Selingo, a New York Times bestselling author of three books, talks to newsmakers about the latest news and insights into current trends in higher education.

Inside College Admissions – produced by SCOIR, the platform used by many high schools to help students and parents navigate the college search and selection process. SCOIR team members host conversations with industry experts and share advice from students, supporters, counselors and colleges.

Inside the Admissions Office – interviews with former admissions officers, graduates of top universities and admission experts to provide tips and advice to help students get into their dream school.

The College Admissions Process Podcast – hosted by high school principal John Durante. Each episode highlights a specific college and goes in depth into its admissions process.

The College Essay Guy – Ethan Sawyer conducts practical, timely interviews with experts in college admissions, financial aid, personal statements, test prep and more.

The Truth About College Admission – hosted by Rick Clark, Executive Director – Strategic Student Access at Georgia Tech and Brennan Barnard, Director of College Counseling for Khan Schools Network and College Guidance Network. Clark and Barnard talk with national experts in college admission and enrollment. The podcast gives students and parents honesty, perspective and some much needed levity.

Your College Bound Kid – the six co-hosts have over 150 years of experience in college admissions, college counseling and professional counseling. There are two podcasts each week, Monday and Thursday. The hosts discuss a hot college admission topic, interview a “thought leader,” answer a listener’s question and do a “spotlight” on a specific college.
